  History of Nexen Tyres Nexen Tire Co. began in 1942 as Heung-A Tire Company. It is proud to have served the tyre industry for the past 80 years. They were recognized as the first Korean tyre company in 1956. They dedicated their Yangsan, Korea, facility to the manufacturing of radial tyres in 1985. Six years later, they strengthened and fine-tuned manufacturing and developmental capabilities in collaboration with OHTSU and Rubber in Japan. Nexen is a combo of two future-oriented words: Next and Century. It talks about Nexen's determination and commitment to plan for the future and push for a better tomorrow. Nexen established its US branch, Nexen Tire America, in 2005, which was a great start in globalizing its brand. Nexen Tire received a patent for its technology for manufacturing rubber/stratified silicate nano-composite tyres in the same year.
